Die Österreichische Musik- und Theaterzeitung Nr. 18 bringt auf S. 3 die Fortsetzung von Theodor Helms Artikel "Dreißig Jahre Wiener Musikleben (1866 - 1896)", in dem die 2. Symphonie besprochen wird [1. Teil am 1.5.1898] (*).
" On April 24th The Courier called attention to the loss sustained by the Philharmonic Society of New York in the death of Anton Seidl and mentioned Emil Paur, formerly conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra as the probable successor of Seidl. [...] he studied music at the Vienna conservatory, where his teacher in the violin was Hellmesberger, in theory Bruckner, and in the piano Epstein, and where he took a first prize. [...]." (**).
