The Inter Ocean Nr. 203 (Chicago, Illinois) bringt auf S. 39 (= S. 7 des Magazins) einen Übersichtsartikel zur Konzertsaison, in dem Vergleiche mit Nikischs Gewandhausplanung angestellt werden und Aufführungen der 2. und 8. Symphonie [10.10.1907 bzw. 5.11.1908] angekündigt werden:

"MODERN COMPOSERS WHO ARE ENGAGING THE ATTENTION OF ORCHESTRA LEADERS. BY GLENN DILLARD GUNN.

THE musical advancement of a community is most surely to be determined by the number and quality of the work of contemporary composers which find a place in the programme of its symphony orchestra. [... über Theodor Thomas ... in Deutschland lange Ultra-Konservativismus ... Novitäten für Chicago ... in Leipzig nur langsamer Wechsel ...]. But of late years Nikisch has been waking up and for the present season, which began simultaneously with our own, he announces, in addition to classic works, "the following important compositions of later and latest times": Berlioz, "Symphony Phantastique"; Liszt, "Faust Symphony"; Tschaikowsky, "Manfred" (first performance); Bruckner, second and eighth symphonies; Draeseke, [... Sibelius, Hermann Bischoff etc. ... ein reines Bach-Programm ... Chicago ist fortschrittlicher als Leipzig und wohl auch Berlin ...]." (**).
